01 The challenge

Two Problems the Navy Needed Solved as One

Navy maintenance teams needed safe, repeatable access to multiple F-18 service zones — cockpit, leading edge, trailing edge, and tail — while meeting fall protection compliance requirements across every configuration. Existing environments demanded systems that delivered functional access and OSHA-compliant fall protection at once, not as two separate problems.

Because F-18 aircraft are serviced in more than one configuration depending on mission requirements, no single fixed-geometry stand could cover every scenario.

JE needed to engineer a family of purpose-built platforms — not one generic product — while keeping every variant durable enough for high-frequency, high-tempo military maintenance cycles across active Navy squadrons.
