Unequal floor space, equal access

Chilean Air Force F-16 Maintenance Access Stands

Unequal floor space on each side of the aircraft meant a standard symmetrical platform wouldn't work. JE modified a proven F-16 design to fit the exact space constraints of the operation.

01 The challenge

More Room on One Side Than the Other

The Chilean Air Force needed focused cockpit access rather than a full-wrap system, but available floor space differed on each side of the F-16 — making a traditional symmetrical platform design impractical for the operational environment.

Floor space available on each side Stand deck as delivered Floor space the symmetrical layout leaves unused
A symmetrical stand is sized by its tightest side, so the wider side goes half-used. Sizing each side to its own bay is what recovered it.

02 The solution

Modified From a Design Already Proven

Rather than developing an entirely new system, JE leveraged its proven F-16 access stand design and modified it specifically to accommodate the customer's asymmetrical space constraints — reducing risk and shortening delivery timelines versus a from-scratch design.

03 Operational impact

A Proven Platform, Customized for Asymmetrical Space Constraints

The Chilean Air Force received a maintenance access solution tailored to its exact facility constraints, built on a proven platform to reduce program risk while still delivering a fully customized, mission-specific configuration.

Instead of a new design cycle, JE modified an existing, field-tested F-16 stand platform to fit unequal clearance on each side of the aircraft — successfully delivered and commissioned internationally with on-site operator training.
